The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office plans on taking 30 juveniles into custody one Saturday afternoon in December, but there will be early release for good behavior — into Walmart for a $150 shopping spree.
Utilizing the sheriff's M-RAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) for transport, the children were deployed to Walmart in two waves of 12 for their “Christmas with a Cop” $150 shopping spree.
A party will be held for the children and their families at the sheriff’s office on Dec. 9, after which a deputy will take each child on a shopping spree at Walmart to get them whatever they want with the available funds.
This year's Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Christmas with a Cop shopping spree is Dec. 9 at the Rogersville Walmart. Saturday’s motorcycle ride, chili cook-off and silent auction fundraiser set for Saturday at the Rogersville City Park will determine who many kids get to participate.
